Whether you’re new to the pool and want to learn the basics of breathing and body position or a fine-tuned athlete looking for technique refinement, the aquatics department at West Wood Health & Fitness Center offers members a variety of programs and services.
Get wet and get fit with a wide variety of water activities, including group fitness classes, lap swimming, and private swim lessons. From kickboards and fins to flotation belts and barbells, we have everything you need to get in the water and enjoy every stroke on the way to your personal fitness goal.
Professional Instructors will help you learn new skills and refine old favorites. Bring the kids during Family Fitness Time and enjoy exploring the water together. There is at least one certified lifeguard on duty anytime the Aquatics Center is open. Check schedules for group fitness classes. One lane is open for lap swimming at all times in the recreational pool.
Regardless of ability level and experience, people of all ages can swim laps. It is important to include low-impact, aerobic exercise in your fitness routine. Lap swimming provides a unique total-body cardiovascular workout.
Group exercise in the water can be an excellent way to reach your personal fitness goals. Our warm water activity pool is dedicated specifically for aquatic group exercise classes. High-, moderate- and low-intensity classes are available.
We offer small group swim lessons as well as Parent and me classes. If you are not looking for a group setting we also offer private swimming lessons for both children and adults. Our professional instructors can help both first-time and experienced swimmers improve their skills.
West Wood is now offering Adaptive swim lessons. Adaptive swim lessons are one-on-one swim lessons designed for individuals with intellectual, developmental and/or physical disabilities.
